CHAMBER NEWS: Promoting ‘Small Business Saturday’

The Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce will be working with member businesses to promote Small Business Saturday sales. This event, which has been occurring nationwide for twelve years, promotes the Pagosa Chamber’s “Shop Local” mantra.

Created by American Express, this program comes with a range of marketing materials. Participating Businesses can stop by the chamber to pick up a variety of Shop Small decals and shopping bags (quantities limited). As shoppers, don’t forget that there is more out there than just Black Friday specials. Everyone wants a deal, and shopping local doesn’t mean you can’t get a great deal! Participating chamber businesses are listed on the homepage of the Chamber’s website through the Small Business Saturday graphic. Their special offerings are also listed.

Support your friends and neighbors by participating in this annual event and keep your spending dollars local so that the circulation of dollars in our economy can go further.

Deadlines
The deadline to enter the Business After Hours Lottery is this Friday, November 18. The drawing for the lottery will take place on Monday, November 21. Chamber member businesses can enter the lottery to host a Business After Hours. Think of joining forces with a neighboring business and have a “block party”. Or partner up with a non-profit agency and host a BAH together.

Once you decide to host a BAH, choose three months that you would prefer to host the event. Send your entry to Kim at info@pagosachamber.com and include your business name, contact person and your 3 months of preference.  (There are no BAH held in January due to the annual meeting and in September due to ColorFest.)

The open nomination process to submit your name to run for the Chamber Board of Directors will close on Monday, November 21. Those businesses interested in running for the board must be a Chamber member in good standing for a year. The representative should be the owner or manager of the business; the commitment is for a 3-year term.

Interested parties can contact Mary Jo Coulehan at the Chamber for more information and the appropriate forms.
