September has been a very busy event month, but don’t put your calendars away yet. Pagosa organizations are planning more events for you to experience in October.
With lots of questions coming our way asking if there will be an Oktoberfest event this year, we are happy to announce that there will be one held on Saturday, October 8. It will be an afternoon of fun in the athletic field at Town Park with food, live music and a beer garden. The festivities will be from 2 to 5pm. This is a family-friendly event with games, a kids’ corner, contests and much more. You can purchase tickets online at www.pagosafun.com for $15 in advance and $5 for children. Tickets at the gate will be $20 for adults. This event will be in partnership with Rugby’s Rescue House. Don’t miss out on the fun; purchase your tickets now.
At the end of October, the Halloween Hootenanny will be held on October 29. Most of the festivities will take place in Yamaguchi Park, with something for everyone. A big part of the event will be a fireworks display since we were not able to have one over the Fourth of July holiday. The town’s Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual trick-or-treating and Kids Carnival event from noon to 2pm. There will be a Witchy Paddleboarding event over in the Pagosa Lakes area, also at noon. From 3 to 7pm, there will be live music, food trucks, a beer garden, a costume contest and more. Want a really unique experience? Do a fun run in the evening on the “haunted” Reservoir Hill with the Haunted Reservoir Hill Fun Run starting at 6pm. Then, at 7pm, enjoy a fireworks display.
Following the fireworks, you can then just walk over to Pagosa Springs High School, where Curtains Up Pagosa will be performing the musical “The Addams Family” at 7:30pm.
It will certainly be an activity-packed Halloween party.
Finally, if you are interested in participating as a business or non-profit agency for the Old Fashioned Christmas to be held on December 17, you need to have your participation form submitted by Friday, October 14. The event will take place this year from 4:30 to 7pm. With the route mostly along the Riverwalk, organizations can host or adopt a space. This is a give-back-to-the-community time. Businesses and nonprofits are asked not to sell products or fundraise at their station.
