‘The Edge’ Art Experience Will Celebrate Creative Women, Tonight at Tennyson Center

Comedy… Visual Art…  Hard-driving Roll n’ Roll…  Burlesque dance performance…

Tonight’s celebratory artistic event — “The Edge” — will take place at the Tennyson Event Center from 6pm – 10pm.  Admission is free.

The posters that appeared around town for tonight’s event featured a detail of a collage by Pagosa artist Betsy Schur… a woman leaning on a window sill, looking out on what appears to be smoke from a raging wildfire, or some type of explosion.

A fitting image for how young Pagosa women are seeing the world at this moment in time?

From the group’s Facebook posting by marketing guru Breanna Pitcher:

“The Edge” is a one-night artistic explosion produced by female creative forces for everyone to come together and celebrate the badassery of women.

The evening will feature local visual and performing artists.

Stand-up acts will begin around 6:30pm to offer immediate comic relief to the over-culture’s kill-joy vibe.  At around 7:30, all-girl cover band ‘Pussyfoot’ will rock the stage with a compilation of 80s/90s rock and punk.  DJ Orbweaver will keep her heavy beats going throughout the evening, complemented by MC Taryn Jones’ raunchy jokes.

Local artwork from Betsy Schur, Tanya Quinn, Kierstan Andrews and Erin Evergreen will set an aesthetic background for a slew of kinetic eye candy to include live painting by Rose Marie, rock-n-roll burlesque by Sass A Frass, and extravagant costume ensembles by Adrienne Young.

The Edge is a collective art experience, dependent on the participation of the guests — so, in lieu of any admission cover (this event is FREE) please consider dressing up as an exaggerated version of yourself (or maybe someone else?)

Libations will be available at the cash bar, slated to include non-alcoholic options as well.

Seating is limited at the Tennyson Event Center, and early arrival is encouraged…

Please note that the artistic content for this event could be considered “Rated R” by some, and children may find they’re more comfortable staying at a friend’s house for the evening…

The Tennyson Event Center is located at 197 Navajo Trail Drive, next door to Boss Hogg’s Restaurant.
