HMPRESENTLY: Woo-Woo Moments

Moving objects around by mental effort alone is called ‘telekinesis’.

I’ve never attempted doing anything like that… but words come to me from somewhere — out of nowhere — from time to time. They’re just suddenly there.

Like, very recently, the words… ‘We’ve got to get good at goodness, again,’

Folks I know call this thing of mine with words, ‘woo-woo.’

As I was reading Daily Post Editor Bill Hudson’s editorial series about “the push to create additional water storage” becoming “tainted by corrupt SJWCD (San Juan Water Conservancy District) leadership,” and about you all getting stuck with $10 million dollars of debt that Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District “customers are paying off…resulting from the purchase of Running Iron Ranch in 2008,” and more… those woo-woo words were just buzzing, all around.

This all involves, I’m learning, people trying to get the Dry Gulch Reservoir constructed, a reservoir that may not really be all that necessary.

As mentioned in Mr. Hudson’s editorial, on Tuesday, July 26, you all aren’t given the opportunity to weigh in on who gets to serve on the SJWCD board, since its officials are court-appointed. They’re not elected.

And like officials elsewhere, yours might be influenced, to some degree, by influencers, promoting various special interests they’d like local officials to be acting upon…. A costly reservoir, for instance, or other pricey infrastructure, that in the scheme of things, may not – shall we say – pencil out?

And then, there’s the added task officials tend to take on… convincing folks to feel good about whatever officials might be contemplating.

And like us, out here in California, you probably get all wound up, trying to decipher messaging, and sometimes advertising, about proposed projects. The messaging, advertising, and such, can be confusing, convoluted, and, at times, perhaps even somewhat deceptive.

And not only that! Communication can be costly, and who winds up footing the bill?

In the meantime, this Earth we’re on keeps on spinning.

Russia has declaring Guernsey an unfriendly state, did you hear about that? And here in the USA, congressional representatives, senators and a past president’s acolytes are lashing out, seemingly endlessly, about one grievance or another. Doesn’t that squander time and money?

I’m just leaning back in my desk chair, with my feet up on my desk, pondering those woo-woo moment words.
