If you are new to town and haven’t experienced ColorFest, here is a quick rundown of the weekend. ColorFest takes place from Friday, September 16 to Sunday, September18. The weekend is filled with tastings of all kinds and the skies fill with hot air balloons. We already have a number of balloon pilots registered for the event, so we expect a great showing. The balloons will launch on Saturday from the downtown area around Hot Springs Blvd. They can be viewed from many other locations in the downtown area besides just Hot Springs Blvd. The balloons will launch from various locations on the west side of town on Sunday, September 18. Launching takes place around 7:30am.

The Passport to Pagosa is a fun-filled evening of music, delicious food from Pagosa restaurants and caterers and wines from around the world. While there is plenty of seating, guaranteed seating with a VIP gift is a special ticket price. All entries come with food and wine tickets. Restaurants vie for the coveted “Golden Whisk” award in categories such as most flavorful, best sweet and of course the People’s Choice award. The live music at the Wine Tasting will be provided by local musical celebrity, Bob Hemenger. The Bands and Brews event brings together breweries from around Colorado and northern New Mexico sharing their special or seasonal quaffs. Combine these great tastes with exciting Live Music, delicious food vendors, activities for the kids and hot air balloons in the evening and you have the makings for a great Saturday afternoon.

Other events happening that ColorFest weekend will be the Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership’s Breakfast with Balloons at the GGP site in Centennial Park and Aspen House’s Color Run/Walk along the Riverwalk both on Saturday morning. Registration for both of these events will be available soon. Enjoy a gourmet breakfast and live music as the hot air balloons fly over head when downtown Saturday morning. Or run or walk along the river walk, get doused with color from various stations and still enjoy the hot air balloons.

Please remember that while the events may not be weather contingent, the hot air balloons are, so there is always a chance they will not fly.

Visit the Chamber website at www.pagosachamber.com and go to the events calendar or click on the ColorFest graphic to register for either the wine tasting or beer tasting events. There are no packages available for purchasing both wine and beer tickets. Each event is separate pricing.
