Club 20 Schedules July Meetings in Durango and Rangely

Club 20, “The Voice of the Western Slope,” will hold summer policy meetings in Durango on July 14 and 15.

These meetings are important to Archuleta County for several reasons. First, our county and town are members of the organization, as are many other organizations and private businesses. These policy meetings are free, open to the public and cover many topics that are important to the Western Slope and our community.

The summer meetings are broken into two segments and the first segment will be held in Durango, while the second session will be held in Rangely, Colorado.

We are lucky that some of these meetings will be conducted so close to Pagosa. On July 14, the topics of telecommunications, health care and education will be discussed over a full day. On July 15, the topics of transportation, tourism and outdoor recreation will be covered in a half-day session.

If you choose to travel to Rangely on July 28 and 29, then the topics of agriculture, water, business affairs, public lands, and natural resources and energy will be discussed.

At these meetings, relevant speakers will cover issues important to each topic. For example, director of the Colorado Tourism Office, Tim Wolfe, will be speaking at the tourism subcommittee meeting on July 15. In addition to speakers, policies important to each category are brought before the committees to discuss and then brought before the whole board in the fall.

If you as an individual, business or organization are interested in any of these topics, think of attending the Club 20 summer policy meetings. You can go to www.club20.org, click on the events tab and then register for the policy meetings.
