The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College presents Nashville Songs & Stories with “Writers in the Round” featuring Paul Overstreet, Jeffery Steele, Danny Myrick & Megan Linville on Saturday, June 25, 7:30pm on the Concert Hall stage. The show is presented by the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College in partnership with The Glacier Club of Durango, Colorado.
The audience will sit back as country music’s finest songwriters reveal the stories behind their hit songs and perform them as they were originally written. Charles Leslie, Concert Hall Director says, “What an awesome experience for everyone to see and meet the musicians who write some of their favorite hits in Country music. We are so honored to be chosen to host this event in our venue made possible through a partnership with The Glacier Club with all proceeds benefiting the Community Concert Hall.”
Paul Overstreet has written and co-written 27 top ten songs, his first being George Jones’ Same Ole Me. Numerous other artists have recorded his songs including Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Keith Whitley, Alison Kraus, The Judds, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and many more!
As an artist, Overstreet has written and recorded many songs himself. You Can’t Stop Love was the debut single for the trio S.K.O. (Schuyler, Knobloch and Overstreet) on M.T.M. Records and enjoyed a place at the top of the charts. That album produced two other top ten hits as well. Overstreet’s first solo project began when RCA released “Sowin’ Love“. The five singles released from this album were all top ten hits, including the title cut, Sowin’ Love, Paul’s signature song All The Fun, and his first number one, Seein’ My Father in Me. The second album, “Heroes”, included the hits #1 Daddy’s Come Around, If I Could Bottle This Up, Heroes and Billy Can’t Read, which became the theme song for the CMA/CMT Project Literacy. The next album “Love is Strong”, gave Paul his first #1 song on Christian radio with the title cut and gave him another chart topper with There But For The Grace of God Go I.
A five-time Grammy Nominee, Jeffrey Steele has been recognized by BMI for over 63 million airplays for hits he penned for a multitude of artists including Keith Urban, Eric Church, Zac Brown Band, Jimmy Buffett, Montgomery Gentry, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cher, .38 Special, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, LeAnn Rimes, Rascal Flatts and Van Zant, Joe Cocker, Little Feat ft. Muddy water Mississippi preacher’s kid Danny Myrick grew up playing, singing, and writing for his family gospel band in south Mississippi and had his first #1 song at the age of 17. Danny has gone on to have cuts on a diverse range of artists from Montgomery Gentry to Joe Cocker and has celebrated many hits, such as Craig Morgan’s International Harvester, Tim McGraw’s Truck Yeah, LoCash’s I Love This Life and 2009’s most played country smash, She’s Country. In 2020, Danny Myrick released his first solo EP “King of Jones County”, featuring the acclaimed song and video God Is A Gun. He produced recent #1 albums “Love Out Of Time” by The Voice Season 17 winner Jake Hoot and “Company’s Comin”’ by Actor/Comedian/Social Influencer Leslie Jordan featuring Chris Stapleton, Dolly Parton, Brandi Carlile, TJ Osborne and more.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Megan Linville has a voice that is a mixture of Laurel Canyon gypsy, southern sweet tea, and smooth Tennessee Whiskey. She recorded her first album at the age of 19 with producer John Carter Cash, the Grammy winning son of the Man In Black, and has performed at some of the sports world’s largest events, including the Indy 500, The Kentucky Derby and many more. Her self-penned recording of Wrapped Up In Love is the closing credits song for Hallmark Network’s perennial holiday favorite Snow Bride, as well as Hearts of Christmas. Megan Linville was featured as one of CMT’s Artist Discoveries and her music video for This Old Town reached number 3 on CMT’s 12 Pack Countdown. She is now the new voice of Blue Bell Ice Cream, alongside Nashville Hall of fame Songwriter, Aaron Barker.

A limited number of VIP tickets are available for a post-concert, “Meet and Greet with the Songwriters” including refreshments in the Spotlight Bar located in the downstairs lobby of the Concert Hall for an additional $50.
