Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6, 2022, and it’s the perfect time to show teachers how much we appreciate the dedication, creativity and problem-solving they demonstrate every day.
“Teachers are some of our best role models for the adaptability and resilience they show, especially during these last few years. We are so grateful to our Colorado teachers’ for persevering during these challenging times and for their dedication to helping students grow into strong, smart citizens,” said Colorado Education Commissioner Katy Anthes. “Help us celebrate and show extra appreciation for our teachers this week by recognizing a teacher who made a difference in your life or showing appreciation for your child’s teacher.”
Many companies offer deals for educators during Teacher Appreciation Week and some have discounts year-round. CDE has curated a list of some of these deals, which include discounted tickets to sports events, food, classroom supplies, health and wellness services, and more. We encourage everyone to share CDE’s Deals and Discounts webpage with the teachers in their lives.
In addition, the public is encouraged to express gratitude on social media by sharing a post, image or video thanking a teacher and using the hashtag, #ThankATeacherCO.
Parents can help their children create and share messages of gratitude with their teachers. Families are also welcome to download and print a free template posted on the CDE Parent and Family Resources webpage.
One of the best ways to honor an exceptional teacher is by nominating them to be the 2023 Colorado Teacher of the Year. The nomination form is available on the Teacher of the Year program webpage. Teachers nominated will be notified and encouraged to begin filling out the 2023 Colorado Teacher of the Year application, which is now available. The application will remain open through Wednesday, June 29.
