Rotary Seeking High Schoolers for Leadership Retreat in Montrose

The Pagosa Springs Noon Rotary Club seeks enthusiastic aspiring youth leaders for a free leadership training retreat to be held June 3-5 in Montrose, Colo.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program assists high school sophomores and juniors in developing leadership skills. RYLA centers on an intense, profession- ally led, three-day retreat that helps participants assess their personal leadership characteristics, under- stand ethics and set personal goals.

According to Bill Bell, Black Canyon Rotary president, “The outdoor recreation amenities in our area are endless and we are hoping to offer the RYLA participants a chance to experience leadership development through outdoor experiential learn- ing this year, as well as traditional classroom instruction. With tipis, yurts and tents for housing; the Ute Indian Museum and the Museum of the Mountain West for classroom space; a community music concert at our brand new state-of-the-art Montrose Rotary Amphitheater; and many team-based and challenging outdoor activities to be included in this year’s programming … the 2022 RYLA event will be nothing short of amazing.”

The Rotary Club invites sophomores and juniors to submit an application, brief resume and letter of recommendation to the RYLA Selection Committee.

The deadline for application submission is May 2 at 6pm. For an application form and more information, please email Cindi Galabota, cindi@pagosalibrary.org.
