I read with interest Mr. Hudson’s September 27 editorial wherein he responds to a reader’s questions about COVID.
To me, it is a shame that San Juan Basin Public health no longer reports local hospitalizations for COVID. I feel that the number of current hospitalizations better reflects the severity of the pandemic than does the number of confirmed cases, some of which can be extremely mild.
The website https://covid19.colorado.gov/data does report current statewide hospitalizations for confirmed COVID cases [currently shown at 884]. In addition, the website states that 81% of the current COVID hospitalizations are unvaccinated folks.
On a happier note, the website reports that only about 1% of hospital admissions are of persons less than 10 years old.
