The Mountain High Garden Club will be meeting Wednesday, September 15 at the CSU Extension building from 10am to noon.
Our guest speaker will be Ethan Proud, supervisor of the Archuleta County Weed & Pest Department, who is an expert on noxious plants in our area. He will talk about how to identify and control these invasive species.
A noxious weed is a non-native plant which has no agricultural or health benefits, and degrades native plant and wildlife habitat while posing a threat to producing lands or human health.
It is a property owner’s responsibility to control noxious weeds. The Archuleta County Weed and Pest Department controls noxious weed infestations on county property and can be contracted by private landowners. The department also provides herbicides and other pesticides as well as being a resource for alternative methods of control.
We hope to see you there.
