There I was, trying to drum something really important in people’s heads, and the 45th President of the United States was undermining what I’d been advocating!
Even when he was running for office, Donald Trump was slamming political opponents for being politically correct. He thrived on political incorrectness, the exact opposite of what I’d been talking about, throughout – and after – my PR career.
Maybe he’d missed what I’d been saying about thoughtful, politically correct communication — and what I’d written, about it, in homeowners association media. HOA’s were getting bad press, especially when people serving on HOA boards were being politically incorrect and overly outspoken.
I was urging everyone to exercise caution.
So, that’s what was going on, and considering his bully pulpit, and all, Mr. Trump’s messaging probably was drowning out my messaging.
Speaking of messaging, there’s been so much of it about the COVID delta variant, and various other disturbing current events. As a matter of fact, I was going to mention something about vaccinations in this column, but changed my mind, after running across some rather surprising COVID news in the British tabloid, The Sun, that “some (British government) officials have privately pointed to evidence that the virus can be spread through omitting bodily gasses in confined spaces like bathrooms.”
According to The Sun, one of the officials told another British publication, The Telegraph, “that they read ‘credible-looking stuff on it’ from other countries around the world,” involving, evidently, some “evidence of a ‘genomical-linked tracing connection between two individuals from a [toilet] cubicle in Australia.”
And there was more amusing news, over the weekend, that a macaroni and cheese ice cream debuted and quickly sold out, CNN reported.
And “The World Elk Calling Championships was won by an Idaho man,” according to Euronews.
Other than the bodily gas news in the British tabloid, these other stories seemed pretty much politically correct.
