Archuleta County Clerk’s Office Closed Due to Positive COVID Tests

Archuleta County Clerk & Recorder Kristy Archuleta has announced that her office in the old County Courthouse will be closed until at least Monday, May 17.

The Archuleta County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is closed due to COVID. There are two employees that have tested positive. We will remain closed until Monday, May 17.

Motor Vehicle renewals can be processed at www.mydmv.colorado.gov
Voter Registrations can be updated at www.govotecolorado.gov
Real Estate Records can be accessed at www.icounty.org.

Payments for renewals may be dropped in the Voter Drop Box in front of the Courthouse on the West end of the building. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you,

Kristy Archuleta
Archuleta County Clerk and Recorder

The two employees have quarantined, and the rest of the staff are being tested for COVID. Assuming no one else tests positive this week, the staff will be back in the office on Monday. The Treasurer’s office, across the hall from the Clerk’s office, is open for business, but with a warning posted on the door noting the previous report of “a positive COVID test” within the building.

In apparently unrelated news, the Assessor’s Office, located just down the hall from the Clerk and Treasurer, has posted a note that, due to their “usually very busy protest month”, the office will be open by appointment only during the month of May. They are allowing for “2 scheduled appointments on the hour and 1/2 hour, from 8:30am until 3:30pm…”

Each appointment will be for no longer than 15 minutes, to allow for sanitizing. The voter drop box, near the outside doors, is available for property owners wishing to drop off their protest notices. Make sure all documents are in the same envelope if you drop off your protest.

Those who have received their property valuation notices may have noticed that property values in their neighborhoods have increased substantially — due to higher real estate prices, or so it would appear.
