With more and more restrictions being lifted, events, both indoor and outdoor, are being planned. The Chamber is beginning to receive a steady amount of calls from organizations planning their events for later on this year and checking to see if they are competing with any other events.
There are still guidelines on hosting events due to COVID-19. Distancing in restaurants and public places are still required with 6-foot distancing.
Indoor events are more closely regulated including wearing a mask unless all individuals are “fully vaccinated” or meet the exemptions for wearing a face mask. Outdoor events have very few restrictions at this time.
However, positive COVID case numbers continue to rise in Archuleta County, where, at one time, we were maintaining good, low-transmission numbers. There are plenty of opportunities through our various medical providers to get vaccinated should you choose to do so. Event promoters should continue to plan their events, indoor or outdoor, with safety protocols in place. San Juan Basin Public Health is available to assist event planners with guidelines and information.
Businesses or event centers can also file for 5 Star status to allow variances for indoor events. To find out more about this 5 Star procedure, contact Robert Clark, Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation economic recovery coordinator, at rclark@pagosaspringscdc.org.
