HMPRESENTLY: The President’s Code-Speak

He speaks in code.

Before boarding Air Force One for a trip to Texas last week, to check out his border wall, President Trump briefly spoke to reporters.

And, as he was suggesting, during his short press conference, that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer were doing something very dangerous, making people very angry — that’s what he was alleging — I was thinking about what Michael Cohen has been saying about Donald Trump speaking in code. Having been Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer for 10 years, Mr. Cohen should know, a thing or two, about the businessman/lame-duck president’s modus operandi.

President Trump is adept at saying things — at suggesting one thing or another — without directly saying exactly what he has in mind. But as POTUS’s former attorney has pointed out, people still understand President Trump’s point, indirectly.

They sense what he wants them to do.

So… dissecting what POTUS 45 was saying, before heading for the southern border, was the President stirring things up? By conflating — or associating — the words ‘danger’ and ‘anger’ with the Speaker of the House and the Senate Minority Leader? By suggesting they’re the ones fomenting anger and danger?

Was Mr. Trump, via the press conference, speaking in code to his followers — the people who, on January 6, desecrated the Capitol building? Was he suggesting they’re not the angry, dangerous ones?

Was he trying to change the narrative, by pinning blame on others? On the two Democrats? And by saying what he was saying, was he telling his followers — in code-speak — “You’re okay? It’s the others, on the other side. You’re not the insurrectionists.”

Was he, once again, urging his followers on?

And while we’re on the subject of Mr. Trump’s visit to the border wall… seeing him about to board Air Force One, with only a few days of his presidency remaining… do the words, “Your taxpayer dollars at work”, come to mind? What does it cost each time POTUS travels someplace?

Well, let’s put it this way: according to the Washington Post, President Trump’s travel “to Mar-a-Lago, alone,” has cost taxpayers some $3.4 million per trip.

There’s air travel, of course, and security, and aren’t special vehicles transported, as well?

And hotel rooms for the President’s staff, his Secret Service detail, and what else? Almost forgot golf cart rental fees, and such, for everyone accompanying the President, as he’s golfing around.

Yes, indeed! Your taxpayer dollars at work…
