LETTER: What Does Lauren Boebert Stand For?

In an interview with ABC Nightline, Lauren Boebert says it “should be normal” for everyone to open-carry guns, like in her restaurant. Debating her knowledgeable opponent, state Representative Diane Mitsch Bush, Boebert stated that equal rights for women has already been achieved. If women want more power, she said, they should carry a gun.

OK, her theme is pro-gun, got it. But it’s also sexualized. Interviewed, she mentioned spending a lot of time on her knees, then suggestively chided her male audience “Now-now boys, I’m talking about prayer.” Using faith to market sex shows utter lack of moral character. High-dollar, tight-pants glamour pictures, and videos of Boebert swaggering slow-motion toward the camera, gun strapped to her hip, market more sex.

Does she have any ideas on pressing current issues? I searched her website and found a one-page “Contract with Colorado” — eleven issues, each dispatched with a couple ideological sentences. She’s “an avid supporter of Trump” (she criticized Scott Tipton for following Trump’s agenda only 94% of the time) and calls Democrats “left-wing lunatics.”

Her simplistic, inflammatory statements earned her $600,000 from an outsider SuperPac.

To Ms. Boebert, “socialism” is the biggest danger we face. Publicly-funded programs include our police and fire departments, Medicare, the VA, libraries, public roads and schools. What would she replace these with? Following Trump’s dictates in lockstep, she’d repeal the ACA. What would replace the healthcare coverage for those abandoned 20 million Americans? Just what are her ideas?

Read Diane Bush’s website for comprehensive solutions.
