Over the past 4 years, the Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership (GGP) has hosted a fundraising event — “Breakfast with Balloons” — during the annual Colorfest weekend balloon ascension in September.
With the Colorfest being one of the events cancelled this pandemic year, how will GGP continue the excitement for the community?
“A Breakfast IN a Balloon!”
Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership (GGP) operates the three ‘geothermal greenhouse domes’ located in Centennial Park, in downtown Pagosa Springs. GGP is recognized for their use of geothermal water to heat the greenhouses to grow food year-round. This year, due to COVID-19, the GGP greenhouse domes have been closed and several events have been cancelled. The work at GGP has not stopped and there have been recent additions to the River Walk site including the ‘Native Plants Garden’ and an active solar array. This summer, fresh produce has been distributed at the Pagosa Farmers Market and to various local food pantries.
What is a ‘Breakfast IN a Balloon’, you may ask? On September 3, the launch of a short video, Breakfast IN a Balloon, will explain this year’s Breakfast Event, Pandemic Version. The film will be packed full of information and will offer a look inside the delicious breakfast box.
Tickets are on sale at the PagosaGreen.org website. Tickets are $40, which include an annual GGP membership and a lovely breakfast box provided by Pagosa Baking Company. An annual membership allows Pagosa’s Renewable Energy Campus to continue providing environmental education and helps cover operational expenses, until GGP’s greenhouses can reopen for the community.
The gourmet breakfasts will be served to ticket holders on Thursday, September 17, through Sunday, September 20. Though looking different this year, supporting GGP will be an excuse to appreciate a breakfast by Pagosa Baking Company and enjoy social-distanced fun.
We can’t wait for you to join us at this year’s Breakfast IN a Balloon. To purchase your breakfast tickets, go to the PagosaGreen.org website.
As a non-profit, GGP is volunteer- and donor-driven. We appreciate all of our Breakfast IN a Balloon sponsors including Exit Realty, Rocky Mountain Timberworks, Ears 2 U, Rocky Mountain Balloon Adventures, and Pagosa Baking Company.
