VIDEO: Special Message from Our School District Superintendent

Archuleta School District Superintendent Linda Reed was featured last week in a video posted by Pagosa Springs’ “Local News Network” — a YouTube channel that normally focuses on ideas for healthy eating. The Superintendent’s nine-minute message covers the reasons for converting to online “distance learning” during the COVID pandemic; the challenges faced by families without sufficient internet access; the challenges faced by parents who were perhaps “not trained to be educators”; the provision of free bag lunches to all students via school bus delivery; and planning for high school graduation ceremonies, still in the works. She also thanked parents and community members for their patience and willingness to step up during this difficult educational transition.

The video was posted to YouTube on May 8, but some of the Superintendent’s comments suggest that it may have been recorded in April.

(We will note that the structure shown in the background is not one of our Pagosa Springs school buildings.)
