New CDC Guidance Recommends Cancellation of Group Events

To best protect public health, San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) is updating its recommendation on event cancellations to reflect the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance released yesterday for the cancellation or postponement of in-person events of 10 people or more. The guidance states “during the next 15 days, all U.S. events of 10+ people should be cancelled or held virtually.”

SJBPH’s recommendation has been made to implement the most effective strategy against the spread of COVID-19, which is social distancing, or an effort to reduce close contact between people to reduce community transmission of the virus.

While we understand that the impact of these cancellations and postponements will be significant, we are taking these steps to protect the health of the people we serve and to ensure a more resilient community.

CDC’s most recent guidance on community events can be found here.
