Next Rio Grande National Forest ‘Forest Specialist’ Presentation on Feb. 22

Join the Rio Grande National Forest online, through the Forest Specialist Series, to learn more about the forest and surrounding area.

The Forest Specialist Series is a monthly online event, hosted by our partners at the San Juan Mountains Association (SJMA) and is designed to be both informational and interactive. The Forest Specialist Series programs are typically held on a Wednesday evening in the middle of the month, from 5:00 to 6:00pm. We will provide a Zoom link for each month’s session, on this web page.

The speakers, primarily Rio Grande National Forest (RGNF) employees and occasionally our partners, will provide a 30 – 40 minute presentation on their area of expertise. We always host a question and answer session afterwards.
The events are facilitated by one of our Visitor Information Specialists staff, and are a great way to interact with your National Forest professionals and learn more about land management, plants, animals, and recreation opportunities on your surrounding public lands.

The Rio Grande National Forest covers over 1.8 million acres, much of which is forested. How are timber management decisions made about these forests? Join Kevin Duda, Vegetation Program Manager, as he answers these questions and more. Kevin will be sharing about various aspects of forest management including tree planting, logging, and monitoring. He will talk about the processes for evaluating management needs of the thousands of acres of the forest.

Kevin has been working on the Rio Grande National Forest since 2005.

The online program will be held Wednesday, February 22 starting at 5pm in partnership with the San Juan Mountains Association. This event is part of the Rio Grande National Forest’s Forest Specialist Series. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about your local public lands.
