HMPRESENTLY: Playing the Trump Card

‘Humdinger,’ is a word you’re probably not hearing much these days.

Something that’s significant — or big — can be a humdinger; a humdinger of a problem, or conversely, a humdinger of something really good.

‘Humdinger’ can also refer to something extraordinary. But, ‘extraordinary’ can mean something is strange or unexpected.

They have nuances, words like ‘humdinger’ and ‘extraordinary.’ The housing crisis in Pagosa Springs, from what I’ve been reading, probably would qualify as one humdinger of a problem.

What other things would qualify?

The pandemic, probably, for sure. And other healthcare issues, as well? Our increasingly polarized country, probably that, too?

And let’s see, what else?

Well, even as I’m going about writing this article, Business Insider is reporting that “Donald Trump wants his supporters to carry ‘Trump Cards.’”

Mr. Trump’s PAC has sent “emails asking supporters to get on board with carrying the red-and-gold cards, which look like credit cards and bear the former president’s signature.”

“The card you select will be carried by Patriots all around the Country… They will be a sign of your dedicated support to our movement to SAVE AMERICA…”

Shortly after reading the Business Insider article, I’m reading, in CNN, a federal judge’s words about “US Capitol rioters.”

Questioning their perception of themselves as patriots, the judge said; “Patriotism is loyalty to country, loyalty to the Constitution, not loyalty to a head of state.”

Those Trump Cards, the cards that “will be carried by Patriots all around the Country,” the cards “asking supporters to get on board…”

What kind of humdinger is that?
