Property Tax, Rent, Heat Rebate Offers For Senior, Low-Income Residents

The Colorado Department of Revenue, Taxation Division is accepting Property Tax, Rent (PTC) Rebate applications for 2024 expenses.

The rebate helps eligible, low-income Coloradans, who are seniors or are disabled, offset property tax, rent, and heating costs. For 2024 expenses, eligible applicants can receive up to $1,154 in rebate assistance.

Those who apply by October 15, 2025, may also qualify for a TABOR refund of $177 for single filers and $354 for joint filing. Coloradans who do not plan to file a state income tax return can still receive their TABOR refund if they apply and qualify for the PTC Rebate by October 15. Otherwise, Coloradans have until Dec. 31, 2026, to apply.

Eligible Coloradans include seniors (age 65 or older, or surviving spouse age 58 or older) or Coloradans with disabilities with a total income of less than $18,704 or a married couple with a total combined income of less than $25,261. Since 2019, the PTC Rebate program has provided relief to thousands of Coloradans, helping an estimated 25,000 residents.

“The PTC Rebate program provides essential financial relief for Colorado seniors,” said Brendon Reese, Senior Director of Taxation at the Department of Revenue. “With rising living costs, this rebate helps cover property taxes, rent, and heating expenses. Our goal is to ensure that no one misses out on the assistance they deserve.”

The PTC Rebate application is available in Spanish to better serve Colorado’s diverse population. To further improve accessibility, the Taxation Division call centers now offer translation services to assist non-English speaking applicants.
