Pagosa UU Fellowship ‘Going Deeper Sharing Circle’ This Sunday, Feb. 9

In last week’s talk by author Julie Loar, the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship heard about fascinating brain science including studies on prayer and meditation. There is still so much we don’t know or understand, and this Sunday, February 9 we will explore more on this topic and how it applies to our daily life.

The Going Deeper Sharing Circle begins at 10:30am, and invites a deeper dive into the themes of recent topics while leaving space for reflection and for whatever else is on our hearts. We practice deep listening, sharing from our own experience and from a place of curiosity rather than judgement. The Pagosa UU Fellowship’s motto: Make Friends, Grow Your Spirit, Do Good, continues to serve as inspiration as we come together in all the mystery and wonder that life brings. Come make friends and grow your spirit in this lightly-facilitated group. Light refreshments are offered.

Prior to the Going Deeper Circle and beginning at 9:00am each Sunday, a guided meditation practice is offered by Dan Dempster, a certified meditation teacher. The next Dharma talk at our February 9 Buddhist meditation practice will include a teaching on the Eight Worldly Dharmas from Pema Chodron’s book When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times (Shambhala Classics).

“Our habit of clinging to attachment and aversion is the cause of an endless cycle of anxiety and resentment that we perpetuate to our own detriment. Learning how to recognize the four pairs of opposites that motivate us (pleasure and pain, loss and gain, fame and shame, praise and blame) is the first step to a more balanced and happy life.”

This practice is open to all those interested in deepening their practice or just starting out with meditation. You are encouraged to email info@PagosaUU.org to be added to the email list for announcements or changes.

Join us in-person at our services at 10:30am. Sunday worship is held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, with the second and forth Sundays being the Sharing Circle and Action Sunday! respectively.

We are located at Unit B-15 of the Greenbriar Plaza, 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. on the north side facing the Pagosa Peak. We offer Zoom streaming of our service, and a link to join online can be found at PagosaUU.org, where you will find our current newsletter with information on all our programs.

Pagosa UU Fellowship is a Welcoming Congregation, we believe that all of who you are is sacred, and all of who you are is welcome. Find out more at https://www.uua.org/lgbtq.
