Pagosa Peak Open School, the only community charter school authorized by the Archuleta School District, is pleased to announce that the school received a Leadership Award, during this year’s National School Choice Week, from NSCW President Andrew Campanella.
27,000 schools across the nation participate in celebrating school choice in our country, and PPOS was one of only a few to be acknowledged for their commitment to motivating and inspiring students through this award.
“We are fortunate to have a dedicated staff who not only see the potential in each student, but also pour their energy and hearts into lifting them to that potential,” PPOS School Director Emily Murphy said. “At PPOS, relationships, intentional support and high expectations inspire our students. Our staff commit to educating the whole child – and it shows.”
PPOS Board President Lawrence Rugar commented, “Congratulations to PPOS being selected and specifically lauded for leadership in the arena of school choice. It is especially an honor at this time in our history to be held in such high esteem for being on the cutting edge of offering an alternative for the students and families of Pagosa Springs.”
PPOS is a tuition-free, K-8 charter school in Archuleta County. The school engages in innovation through a project-based learning model and restorative practices approach to culture. Enroll your student for the 2025–26 school year today at https://pagosapeakopenschool.org.
