Dear Fellow Wanderer of the Woods,
It’s finally here! the Thingamajig Theatre Company production of Lee Blessing’s ‘A Walk in the Woods’ opened on Thursday evening at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. This two-person show runs through January 26, with most shows at 7pm and Sunday matinees at 3pm.
Tim Moore, after taking a well-deserved 8-year break from acting, is stepping back into the spotlight… Not rusty, just well rested. Joining him is comedian extraordinaire, Scott Morehead, last seen in his moving performance in ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’.
Under the direction of Pagosa favorite actor/playwright/director Dennis Elkins (who somehow got this crew together without losing his mind), ‘A Walk in the Woods’ promises laughs, heart, and a chance to reflect on the art of human connection.
First performed in 1988 at Yale Repertory Theatre and later on Broadway, “A Walk in the Woods” garnered critical acclaim, earning a Pulitzer Prize nomination for Drama and a Tony Award nomination for Best Play. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, the play depicts an unofficial meeting between two arms negotiators — one American, one Soviet — in a forest outside Geneva. Through their conversations, it offers an insightful and often humorous examination of diplomacy, and the challenges of bridging ideological divides.
Playwright Lee Blessing balances the weight of the subject matter with honesty and wit, allowing audiences to engage with the material in both reflective and accessible ways.
We’re hoping you’ll join us… to laugh, cry, and maybe even clap enthusiastically. (No pressure, though.)
