We enter the time of year when celebrations of light are near and dear to our hearts, and the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will offer two services in December to come together to celebrate this festive time of year. Our Sunday service honoring this will be held on December 15, at 10:30am, and entitled, I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day – UU Christmas Traditions. The focus is on some of the traditional songs and stories of Unitarian and Universalist forebearers who wrote several of the songs we enjoy.
We will also re-visit the pre-Christian time of ancient customs of the Yuletide traditions.
Music and singing has always been a part of the celebrations we know so well, and this Sunday we will share in that tradition. Join us for a relaxed Sunday morning of music and singing, along with cider, treats and community fellowship.
The second offering, on Friday, December 20 from 6:00-7:30pm, is a Solstice Gathering & Ritual.
Honoring the Darkness-Holding the Light Within welcomes friends of all ages to engage with the lessons of the darkness and to welcome the light. Depending on the weather, we hope to spend some time outside so dressing warmly is encouraged. Treats to share after the ritual will warm us as we lean into the longer days ahead.
The Fellowship’s in-person services are normally on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 10:30 am. Find us in Unit B-15 of the Greenbriar Plaza 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. on the north side facing the Pagosa Peak. Joining us through our offered Zoom services is also an option using the following meeting link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8991941305
Visit our website www.pagosauu.org to find our current newsletter. Meditation Sundays are held the 2nd & 4th Sundays and begin at 9:00am. Email Pagosauuf@gmail.com with your interest as Zoom access is also available for joining the mediation online.
Unitarian Universalism (UU) is a living tradition which has shifted in many ways from the heritage of its Christian roots, and continues to evolve. Our shared values serve as guides for living out our UU faith and centers on love as the catalyst. One of those values is Pluralism, which simply defined, is the belief we are all sacred beings, diverse in culture, experience, and theology. We draw on many sources for divine living and we invite the community to share in growing your spirit, making friends and doing good works with us. (Source UUA.org/beliefs)
