Thingamajig Theatre Production of ‘A Walk in the Woods’ Rescheduled

Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts (PSCA) and Thingamajig Theatre Company have announced a schedule change for the upcoming production of ‘A Walk in the Woods’, written by playwright Lee Blessing. Originally slated to open on October 11, 2024, the production will now be performed from January 17 to January 26, 2025.

“As a close-knit theatre company, we occasionally need to shift our timing to prioritize the well-being of our team,” says Tim Moore, Artistic Director of Thingamajig Theatre Company. “This adjustment allows us to maintain the high standard of quality our patrons expect, and we’re excited to bring this powerful production to the stage in January.”

Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, ‘A Walk in the Woods’ is an imagined version of real events, with hints of the humor characteristic of Blessing’s work.

Between 1981 and 1984, American Paul Nitze and Russian Yuli Kvitsinsky met in the mountains along the Swiss and French border for unofficial negotiations to limit the nuclear weapons arsenals in the United States and the Soviet Union. What followed was a political and diplomatic back-and-forth as both countries attempted to save face and emerge as dominant.

Blessing’s two-man play is a sharp, engaging look at what might have transpired during those secret meetings in the woods.

Thingamajig Theatre and PSCA are reaching out to patrons who have already purchased tickets for the October performances, assisting with ticket transfers or other accommodations if requested.

PSCA extends its appreciation for the community’s understanding and continued support. In addition to ‘A Walk in the Woods’, two other classic shows will fill out the winter season at PSCA.  ‘All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce’ by Peter Rothstein, playing December 12 – 28, and ‘The Odd Couple (Female Version)’ by Neil Simon, running February 28 – March 15, 2025. Season tickets will be available soon, once the new ticketing system is fully operational.
