The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado is excited to announce a September concert fundraiser.
Is there a better time to host an outdoor concert than when the mild, fall weather ushers in golden-hued leaves and blue-bird skies? If this sounds like the ideal setting for you, we have the perfect event! The Community Foundation is excited to host our first Autumn Encore of the 19th Hole Concerts with special guest Bob Hemenger. The concert will be held at the Pagosa Springs Golf Club tomorrow, Thursday, September 19, from 5:00 – 6:30pm.
Proceeds from the $10 entry and silent auction support the Archuleta County Fund of the Community Foundation which provides annual granting to local organizations. The recipient of this year’s unsolicited $10,500 grant will be announced at the concert.
Square Top Bar-B-Que will have food and drinks available for purchase, so bring a chair or blanket and cozy up on the lawn for some fun music and a great cause! We ask that you please leave your furry, four-legged friends at home.
The Archuleta County Fund is a quasi-endowed fund that provides an unsolicited grant annually which is matched by another fund through the Community Foundation to create a larger impact for the recipient of the grant. A local committee decides which organization will receive the funding. This year, the fund is granting $10,500 to the Pagosa Nordic Club. The Pagosa Nordic Club plans to use the funding to expand their Youth Nordic Ski Program for middle and high school students. Purchasing classic cross-country skiing equipment to complement their existing skate-ski equipment will allow students to experience both disciplines of cross- country skiing and support healthy lifestyles for the youth of Archuleta County.
“The Pagosa Nordic Club is honored to be selected to receive this grant from the Community Foundation’s Archuleta County Fund,” said James Dickhoff, president of the Pagosa Nordic Club. “The youth Nordic ski program exposes our kids to a fun, physical winter activity to promote fitness, friendships and an appreciation for being outside with nature.”
“We are so excited to have this grant opportunity for the nonprofit community in Archuleta County,” said Briggen Wrinkle, executive director of the Community Foundation. “The Autumn Encore is a perfect opportunity to raise money and educate the community about the fund while shining a spotlight on an outstanding local nonprofit.”
In addition to raising funds with ticket sales, a silent auction will allow concertgoers to bid on various gift cards and goods from local businesses, as well as a three-night stay at a Telluride condo. All proceeds go directly to the Archuleta County Fund, making it a more substantial granting source for local organizations. Be sure to bring your checkbooks and join in the fun.

In 2022, our inaugural Archuleta County Fund grant of $10,000 went to Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County to support its plan to build more affordable housing. In 2023, $10,000 was granted to Wings Early Childhood Center to provide appliances for its building expansion.
The Community Foundation invests and manages contributions to our five counties. Our goal is to build, over time, substantial funds for the community.
