Pagosa Springs is home to a vibrant art community, and you will have the opportunity to experience that first-hand in the upcoming Pagosa Springs Artists Studio Tour. Now in its second year, this Studio Tour will be held for three days this year, from August 23-25, from 10am to 5pm each day.
This year, more than 35 local artists throughout the Pagosa Springs, Colorado area will be opening their studios so that you can see their artwork and their workspace. This free tour is self-guided, but you can pick up maps at the Pagosa Springs Visitor Center, Mountain and Meadow Real Estate, Sherpa Real Estate, The Liberty Theater, PJ’s Fine Bamboo Rods, Two Old Crows Art Gallery, or Pagosa Mountain Sports.
Many of the artists will also have maps available in their studios. Or, you can use the interactive online map at the Tour’s website, www.studiotourpagosa.com — and you can use this map on your phone to locate the studios as you do the tour. In addition to the map, the Tour’s website includes detailed information on each of the artists participating on the tour, along with examples of their work. Just click on any of the images under “2024 Studios on Tour” on the Web page.
Artists participating in the tour work in virtually every medium of art — ceramics, painting, photography, leather work, sculpture, mosaics, fabric art, glass, resin cast, metal fabrication, beadwork, hand-made furniture, jewelry, mixed media, weaving, and, of course since this is Colorado, wood-carved bears and hand-crafted fly rods. And they all love to talk with visitors about their work. Many will also offer their work for sale to studio visitors.
With three days in the tour this year, you will be able to visit more studios while actually maintaining a more leisurely pace and enjoying the many other things Pagosa Country has to offer.
