Nineteen Pagosa Springs musicians have been rehearsing a selection of their favorite songs for the past month or so, and will be sharing those songs on Saturday, April 27, in a tribute to the most popular rock-n-roll band of the 20th century: The Beatles.
The event will benefit Pagosa Peak Open School (PPOS), our community’s District-authorized K-8 charter school.
‘A Tribute to The Beatles’ will feature interpretations of the Fab Four’s extensive song catalog, arranged by some of Pagosa’s finest vocalists and instrumentalists, including Kirsten Andrews, Laurie Brinkmann, Trey Brooks, Jason Dockter, Chris Haas, Steve Hays, Josh Harper, Ursala Hudson, James Kiker, Taryn Jones, Andy Matlock, Chris Morley, Greg Milioto, Gus Palma, Marcus Rivas, Em Tholberg, Bill Trimarco, and Eric Wade.
The show is being billed as a “Musical Dress-up Dance Party Fundraising Event”. The Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts will be hosting a cash bar, and prizes will be given for costumes that best celebrate The Beatles, their music, and the global youth culture they influenced. The event will also feature a surprise photo booth.
Tickets are $40 each, or $75 for a couple. Purchase tickets in advance at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts website (with a service fee added). The musicians and event organizers have volunteered their time and talents, and all the funds raised will go to support educational programs at PPOS.
So bring out your favorite ’60s or ’70s ‘Beatlemania’ dancing clothes and get ready to ‘Twist and Shout’ … with a ‘Little Help from Your Friends’…
This event continues the musical celebrations hosted by PPOS over the past several years, beginning with the highly popular ‘Blues Box Prohibition Night’ jazz night held at the CSU extension building. In 2022, PPOS hosted the ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’ at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, and the ‘Viva Pagosa Springs’ casino night last October — two more community-supported fundraising events that have helped fund the innovative educational program at our public K-8 charter school.
In support of the event, PPOS will be hosting a “Parents’ Night Out” children’s event from 6pm – 10pm on April 27. Parents can drop off kids age 5-12 years for dinner, crafts, science, and movies at Pagosa Peak Open School. Cost is $25 for the first child; $20 for each additional child. NOTE: Parents can enjoy a $5 discount per child if you buy a ticket to the ‘Tribute to the Beatles’…
