If you missed the opening of the Pagosa Farmer’s Market, no stress! Instead, get excited!
Our next market is tomorrow, Saturday, July 8. Ignore those works calls, those deadlines, and the mess you have yet to clean up in the house. Put on a cool outfit, a sun hat, maybe even some lipgloss for the ladies, grab those reusable bags and get shopping!
You can find the Farmer’s Market at the east end of town located alongside the Eastside Market from 9-1pm.
At the Farmer’s Market you will find the freshest, juiciest, greenest, selection of vegetables, herbs, and other produce. Supporting the Farmer’s Market with your coin ensures quality food that supports your health and wellbeing while supporting regenerative farming and the families that bring you such nutritious goodies. At our last market, we had an array of vegetables harvested from the grow domes located right in town. There were also other attractions such as local honey, beautifully hand-crafted bucket hats, wallets, trinket purses, and shopping bags, as well as gorgeous hand-blown glass jewelry. You can adorn yourself with such items or they make great gifts for friends and family. Gifts such as these are both thoughtful and supporting small business vendors.
Keep those plants covered at night. Anything below 50 degrees means cover up those plant babies. As the temperatures fluctuate, shoppers will start to notice a change in vegetable variety, so making it to every market might mean there will be something new waiting for you. While growers work their hardest to bring you fruitful offerings, for example see the photo of the red pepper, other vendors will have items that may peak your interest. Items such as locally roasted coffee, jams, jellies, farm fresh eggs, breathtaking photography, and a range of grass-finished USDA inspected beef cuts.
As our market progresses, you may also expect striking food demos from our local chefs. Last year’s delectable treats included tomato tarts and vegetable dips that did wonders to the taste buds.
Special notice to SNAP recipients and Seniors: the Market continues to accept SNAP cards and to distribute Double Up Bucks worth $20 with the first $20 SNAP purchase and to accept coupons distributed by San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging. These deals allow families to purchase nutritious food while simultaneously making wise economical choices.
Look for the SOS booth, an organization that continues to support our sustainability efforts in Archuleta County.
We can’t forget the support of our community, the Town of Pagosa Springs and the Pagosa Tourism board.
