HMPRESENTLY: Little Nuggets, Sometimes…

It’s just a little nugget of communication that can shape opinion, and influence how people see things. It’s rare that happens, but, occasionally, it does.

‘Fake news,’ for example. When he first said those words, and kept repeating them, former President Donald Trump exacerbated negative opinion of news media, which despite flaws and blemishes, a free press is so essential to free societies.

Just a couple of words, like Mr. Trump’s ‘fake news,’ can so profoundly impact public opinion.

My nugget for that, in just a single word, is ‘scary.’

Business firms, on the other hand, often seem to eschew little nuggets in their communication, which sometimes is necessary, for legal or other reasons, or when decision-makers in business are thinking, the higher the word count, the weightier the company’s communication may appear to be.

Of course, there’s a lot going on in the property development biz, when developers are vying to build condo developments, apartment buildings, and even affordable, workforce housing, like the property developer out in Texas, proposing to build affordable housing rental units around Pagosa Springs.

But, from reading articles in the Daily Post, there’s a communication nugget bouncing around in my mind, and it’s not a word, or even a couple of words. It’s a punctuation mark. It’s this one, a ?…

Because ‘affordable,’ these days, or “screaming deal,” in the Texas property development firm’s opinion, may be a rather screaming (BIG?) question mark.

My head sure was spinning, reading about the Texas developer’s proposal. Pagosa officials’ heads might have been spinning, too.

So anyway, it’s back to the drawing board…. to find out what the developer and Pagosa officials might be having, in mind, next, after the next go around.
