You Can Volunteer to Help Teach Local Youth About the Environment

By Keith Bruno & Ashley Meadows

Help Audubon Rockies inspire the next generation of conservationists!

Audubon Rockies’ Community Naturalist program is recruiting volunteers to support their long-standing environmental education programs at Four Mile Ranch in Pagosa Springs.

Attend training on September 6-8 to get all of the information you need to become a volunteer environmental educator.

Over the three-day training period, you’ll learn how to lead activities and lessons for local K-4 students and get familiarized with the hiking trails frequented during the programs at the ranch. Once confident with the lessons and trails, you’ll be ready to lead tours for small groups of students this fall! Groups on average include eight students.

Orientation will be held on Tuesday, September 6 from 9:00am to 12:00 noon at the Ross Aragon Community Center in the West Conference Room. On both Wednesday, September 7, and Thursday, September 8, the training will be held at Four Mile Ranch from 8:30am to 3:00pm.

For those available, Audubon Rockies will also be hosting two days of trail preparation at Four Mile Ranch, August 29 and 30 from 8:00am to 2:00pm. This will be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the ranch before the volunteer training.
