Colorado Healthcare Corps (CHC) is Community Resource Center’s newest AmeriCorps program supporting nonprofit healthcare facilities throughout Colorado, while developing a pathway to high-demand careers in the healthcare industry. As with most pilot programs, we have remained flexible to make changes based on data we gathered from partners and applicants. I’m excited to share a new development that will bolster AmeriCorps members’ career development and better support our statewide partners.
We noticed when applications started rolling in that candidates clearly demonstrated empathy, a service ethos, and a passion to care for others – and that many applicants had no experience in the healthcare field. They saw CHC as the chance to take a first step into an exciting new career pathway. Simultaneously, we heard from our host site partners about the dire need for members to have certifications so they could address the critical need in the workforce.
To better meet both member and host site needs, CRC is excited to share that members now have the opportunity to earn a Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) Certification while serving in the program and earning competitive benefits. The combination of hands-on, frontline experience and a certification will help members secure better paying, long-term positions in the healthcare field after their service in CHC. Providing this opportunity aligns with CRC’s goal to attract people with diverse backgrounds and experience levels to the Colorado Healthcare Corps – and set them up for success.
This is a tremendous opportunity for individuals who are interested in exploring, starting or advancing a career in healthcare – and we still have spots available! We welcome first-time workers as well as experienced professionals looking to change careers or re-enter the healthcare industry in a supportive environment with wrap-around support to ensure their success. Please help us spread the word!
