Section of East Fork Road to Temporarily Close for Pipeline Repairs

A section of the East Fork Road (Forest Road 667) in Archuleta County on the San Juan National Forest will be closed to full-sized vehicles on September 1 and 2, as Xcel Energy works to repair the gas pipeline that is buried under the road. All-terrain vehicles and utility terrain vehicles will be able to pass by the work site, however larger vehicles including passenger cars, pickup trucks, trailers and recreational vehicles will not be able to pass.

East Fork Road will be closed beginning approximately two miles east of its intersection with U.S. Highway 160. Visitors will still be able to access the East Fork campground. The closed section of road will be marked with signs and traffic control. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated if necessary by using steel plating.

Please respect closure signs on the road and drive with caution.

All offices on the San Juan National Forest are currently conducting business and providing services virtually. For information on the San Juan National Forest, call (970) 247-4874, or visit the forest website.
