LETTER: A Bargain is Not Necessarily a Bargain

In Part Four of Daily Post editor Bill Hudson’s reporting on the Pagosa Town Council’s discussion of purchasing the 12-acre tract of land near the intersection of Hwy 160 and Hwy 84, Bill wrote, ” But the other four Council members present made it clear, they see the property as a bargain…”

…though no one can say exactly what the land will be used for.

That brought to mind the number of times I’ve heard an item was bought by someone in my family “…because it was on sale! I saved…. dollars!” The item was never subsequently used (worn).

Buying something you aren’t sure you need, or aren’t sure how you might use… simply because it’s “a bargain”… doesn’t sound to me like smart stewardship of public resources.
