The Buck Stops Here started out as a wild game-processor that also sold fresh meats. Over the years it has expanded to add a very nice café.
The menu is primarily a variety of burgers (including Elk and Buffalo) and a variety of deli-type sandwiches, such as Hoagie, Mediterranean, Club, Pastrami, Pulled Pork, Italian Sausage, and Chicken Breast. Prices in the $8-$9 range. They also have fish & chips, baby back ribs, smoked chicken, and sides like fries, slaw, & beans. You order at the counter and pay; they bring your order to you when it’s ready.
There’s also a full bar, small but very nice, which is attracts a steady clientele.
When you leave, you can buy fresh meats, seafood, and similar items from their cases. The prices are not inexpensive, but you’re probably getting the freshest in Pagosa Springs.
Easy to find – on North Pagosa Blvd. near the big City Market grocery store, just a half block north of the traffic light on Hwy. 160. I’ve never seen it packed, but it does a steady business. They close at 8pm.
