The US 160 McCabe Creek project implemented a major traffic shift, starting Tuesday, September 7. Crews began shifting traffic to single lanes with concrete barriers on US 160 from 7th Street to 5th Street, as they work on the south side of US 160.
Business access will remain open but may be altered by construction. Bicycles and motorists must share the road as there will be no room for a bike lane. Pedestrians are advised to use the north side of the highway as the sidewalks will be closed on the south side. 6th St. is closed for one block from US 160 to 5th St for the duration of the project.
Phase 1 of work in this area is expected to continue through November, 2021.
Working hours will be from Tuesday, September 7 to Friday, September 10 from 7am to 7pm.
Crews will be working to place the concrete barriers at the beginning of the week, and getting the new traffic shift set up and striped. There will be continuous work on asphalt digging, survey, and striping throughout the area. All motorized vehicles should expect some travel impacts throughout the construction of this project.
Motorists should be aware of lane closures and potential lane shifts, and are urged to obey speed reductions and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone. Loads wider than 11 feet will be restricted through the work zone.
