The mysteriously-named DSP Pizzeria is not necessarily easy to find, but having been voted “Best Pizza in Pagosa”, it’s worth the search. In the photo above, it’s to the left of the “Funky Trunk”, in a small building in the City Market Shopping Center — just east of KFC Chicken/Taco Bell.
We’ll get to the menu in a minute, but let me say that if you’re thirsty after a day on the ski slopes or hiking trails, DSP has one of the best happy hours in town, from 3-6 Monday-Friday. Pabst is $1.50, bottled beer $2.50, and their margarita is $4.00. And slice of pizza might go nicely with that PBR.
The atmosphere is Colorado-quirky, the walls covered with former skis and snowboards.
The pizza is thin-crust and the ingredients are fresh. The pizzas come in 3 sizes (14″, 16″, 18″), priced at $$12-$14 for simple cheese.
It’s also sold by the slice (and it’s a huge slice) for $3.95. The ends hang over both sides of the paper plate. At lunch, you can get that huge slice with 2 toppings — plus a PBR or a soft drink — for 7 bucks. Cheaper than McDonalds. The menu goes far beyond pizza, with a long list of subs, grilled paninis, salads, and appetizers.
The interior is small and casual with wood booths lining two walls and a few tables in the center. There are a couple patio tables outside the front door. They also do a good carry-out business.
