Highway 112 Temporarily Closed North of Del Norte

By Lisa Schwantes

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will install a new culvert on Colorado Highway (CO) 112 about one mile north of Del Norte. A full three-day closure of CO 112 will be required to allow for the removal of the old culvert, installation of the new culvert and paving of the roadway at the work site.

Beginning on Tuesday, October 24 motorists will encounter a full closure of CO 112. Traffic in the area and local residents will be detoured through Rio Grande County Road 15A. However, through traffic (especially commercial truck traffic) is strongly encouraged to use the alternate route of US Highway (US) 285 and US 160, where the highways meet in Monte Vista. Culvert and paving operations are expected to be completed by the end of the workday on Thursday, October 26.

The traveling public is urged to obey signage for detours, speed reductions, and over-weight/over-sized restrictions. Motorists should also be aware of flaggers, maintenance workers and heavy equipment on and along the roadway.
