Employers Asked to Participate in Housing Needs Assessment

The Town of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County are conducting a housing needs study assessment to evaluate housing issues and needs in the region. They have selected Economic and Planning Systems (EPS) to conduct the study. To best understand the housing issues and concerns related to economic development and economic sustainability, EPS is seeking input from local employers and businesses. Business input is critical and will be used to inform their understanding of the housing issues facing our community and the most effective strategies to address these issues.

The Chamber of Commerce is assisting in making this survey available and encouraging our business community to actively participate in this survey since housing affects us all! The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All results are strictly confidential, and responses will only be reported when combined with all other responses. The results of this study will be available as part of the Housing Needs Study report to the Town and County by fall of 2017. You can click here to weigh in on this critical issue.

In the 2017 Economic Outlook Survey that the Chamber sponsored, one of the top answers to the question, “What must happen for your local economic region to be a great place to start or grow a business?” was Affordable Housing. This study takes that answer and goes even deeper. What does Affordable Housing mean: housing units, single family homes, price range of homes, rent or buy, affordable at what wage range? Businesses have an opportunity to weigh in and help define the problem and potential solutions. Without a needs assessment such as has been undertaken, organizations like CHFA (Colorado Housing and Finance Authority) cannot come into the community and assist us with housing solutions and finance options.
