POEM: No Other

how strange at some point
there would be no other
no other woman in the world for me
I would object I hardly had eyes
and had to lie to friends
when they nodded and leered
I didn’t care

and so any other had
no place for me I only wanted you
I don’t know why yes I do
some chemist mixed it just right
adding the essence of you
one drop
and I was a fool
