‘Town to Lakes Trail’ Public Meeting Next Week

By Rachel Novak

The Town of Pagosa Springs will host a ‘Town to Pagosa Lakes Trail’ public meeting on Wednesday April at 5:30pm at the Ross Aragon Community Center, Senior Dining Room.

As part of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan Update process, the Town Planning, Parks and Recreation Departments will conduct a public input work session regarding the Town to Pagosa Lakes Trails Master Plan. Join us and let your comments, thoughts, and ideas be heard. Your input is very important at this stage of the Comprehensive Plan update process.

A number of years ago, Town Council prioritized the construction of the “commuter” trail portion of this plan, and specifically the 4-mile hard-surfaced trail along the south side of Highway 160.

Though there has not been much visual progress on this commuter trail, Town staff have been working diligently for the last six years staging funding and designing phased trail segments with over $2 million in grant funding secured thus far. Two of these trail segments are expected to be completed in 2017.

The Town to Pagosa Lakes Trail project is a multi-year undertaking that will provide the missing connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorized transportation between uptown and downtown. If you would like to view this master plan and map, please follow this link to the Comprehensive Plan Update 2017 webpage.

This public input work session is one of many public input meetings being conducted as part of the Comprehensive Plan update process. If you would like to stay up to date on upcoming meetings, please sign up for free automatic E-Notices on the Town’s webpage: https://goo.gl/j0HytP
